Liquid - air heat exchanger are build, for example, to heat combustion air by steam, water or thermal-oil in order to increase the efficiency of a combustion process of power plants or boiler plants.
This type of heat exchanger is also called liquid - gas heat exchanger or gas heater.
Exhaust gas heat exchangers are used for recovering the heat from hot flue gases into water, thermal-oil or steam to use the recovered heat for process heating, heating of buildings and / or for power generation for example with an ORC process. In this way the efficiency of the complete plant can be increased significantly. This type of heat exchangers are also called economizer.
Air cooler / condensers for efficient cooling, re-cooling and condensation of liquids or vapors.

DSD Chemtech offers the MonPlex™ Plate Heat Exchanger. This proprietary technology withstands the harsh conditions present in a sulfuric acid plant while providing the effective heat transfer needed to maintain catalyst bed temperatures essential for conversion efficiency. Modular and custom-designed to meet your application, the MonPlex™ Heat Exchanger is compact and available in both cross flow and counter flow configurations. This modular design offers the most flexible and efficient flow arrangements. It also offers significant improvements in design and operational flexibility, including the freedom to select appropriate materials of construction for each heat transfer zone.
A similar plate heat exchanger (OCAP) is also available for applications outside sulfuric acid plants.

If no heat is required from the system, the bypass motor is activated to bypass the heat exchanger.
The heat exchanger can recover enough heat to heat a warehouse or offices within the same building. Even the complete hot water requirement of a building can be provided.
High grade stainless steels
The AWT heat exchanger is manufactured from high-grade stainless steel 1.4571/1.4404, a stainless steel that has been in use in high technology flue gas applications for several years. For high stress applications, a version of the AWT made from 1.4539 is available.
For applications involving extremely high flue gas tempratures. An AWT heat exchanger fabricated in stainless steel 1.4828, which has a high nickel content, can be supplied.
Even retrospective installation of an AWT heat exchanger can be cost-effective, praticularly in times of high energy costs, so that pay-back in two to three years can be achieved.
The most significant advantage over conventional ceramic saddles consists in maximum heat recovery with minimum loss of pressure.
Clearly defined, straight flows prevent the accumulation of particles as well as chemical attacks.
