By means of a conveyor the necessary for simultaneous treatment quantity of product is transferred to the plant through a special inlet; treatment process time depends on the selected modes, which may be regulated. The housing is made of stainless steel, used in food industry. The main distinction of microwave dehydration from traditional methods of drying consists in the voluminosity of heating. Heat penetrates the product not from the surface but it is generated immediately in all the volume, which permits to dry, for example, onion in cloves and simultaneously roots, stems, leaves and flowers of plants. There takes place a uniform distribution of moisture in dried product. Microwave drying has the advantage that there is no transfer of heat from a calefactor. Using other methods of drying first it is necessary to heat the air by means of a calefactor and then to transfer the heat from the heated air to product. On each phase: heat of the air, its transportation, transfer of the heat to product – heat loss is inevitable. In case of microwave drying the source of heat is the product itself and there are no heat losses mentioned above. Provided that the customer has got such kinds of energy as: gas, mazut and steam, the company “Ingredient” produces combined production lines, the exploitation of which provides, on the one hand, a low prime cost of product (gas is used on the first phase of drying for the elimination of a part of free moisture in the product), and on the other hand, a high quality, microbiological purity and uniform final moisture of dried product (resource and energy saving microwave equipment is used on the second phase of drying for the elimination of free and a part of inherent moisture), which will never be provided by the plants, which dry products by means of heated air.
