Turned furniture parts are used on a wide variety of furniture in a variety of functions. Turned parts for furniture usually serve as connecting or fastening parts or have a supporting function. The parts are usually manufactured in large series on CNC lathes for the furniture industry. The material used depends on the function of the turned part and, in the case of visible parts, also on the design. Turned furniture parts can be made of metal such as brass or steel, such as nuts, bushings or sleeves for connecting furniture parts, or they consist of acrylic glass, for example for decorative shelves. Turned parts for furniture are very often made of wood and later serve as feet or drawer buttons. From a technical point of view, the greatest effort is required for turned parts made of steel or brass, which serve as far as possible for the connection. Depending on the type of connection, the production of a turned part is relatively complicated. For example, a connector can also be a spacer with an additional cone on both sides for design reasons. For this purpose, this part has a thread at both ends. Of course, production is fully automated after setting up the program and transferring the CAD parameters to the CNC interface of the lathe, but the longer a single turning process takes, the higher the unit costs of a decorative furniture turned part for the furniture industry.
