On September 16th 1961, in the city of Jaraguá do Sul (State of Santa Catarina), an electrician, an administrator and a mechanic combined their knowledge and skills and founded Eletromotores Jaraguá. From the courage of these visionary entrepreneurs the company grew and after some time, the company name changed to WEG, in reference to the initials of the founders. A name that is recognized today as one of the largest manufacturers of electric equipment in the world.
WEG initially produced electric motors, in the 1980s it started to expand its activities, making electrical and electronic parts, products for industrial automation, power and distribution transformers, liquid and powder coatings and electrical insulating varnishes. The company consolidated its position not only as a manufacturer of motors, but also as a supplier of complete industrial electrical systems.

Menzel Elektromotoren GmbH is een middelgroot bedrijf in aandrijftechniek met meer dan 90 jaar ervaring in de productie en levering van grote elektromotoren. Ons uitgebreide leveringsprogramma omvat elektromotoren van verschillende soorten en maten: laagspannings-, middenspannings- en hoogspanningsmotoren - van standaardmotoren tot individueel geprojecteerde speciale motoren met een vermogen tot 25 MW. Eekhoornkooimotoren, sleepringmotoren en gelijkstroomaandrijvingen in alle gangbare uitvoeringen, met een grote verscheidenheid aan koelings- en beveiligingstypen en nominale spanningen tot 13,8 kV.
Naast de levering van onze standaard series, produceren wij elektromotoren in speciale uitvoeringen van elk denkbaar type volgens de specificaties en eisen van onze klanten, zowel als individuele stukken voor speciale toepassingen als als reserves of vervangingen, mechanisch en elektrisch uitwisselbaar met bestaande motoren. MENZEL staat voor motorproductie van hoge kwaliteit, betrouwbaarheid, flexibiliteit en snelheid. Wij bieden ook een breed scala aan diensten op het gebied van ondersteuning, onderhoud, inbedrijfstelling, advies en logistiek. Daarbij streven wij het duidelijke doel na om te allen tijde beschikbaar te zijn voor onze klanten.

MENZEL heeft ook een ultramoderne testfaciliteit met een capaciteit van 2.300 kVA op de locatie in Berlijn . Dit maakt testen mogelijk tot 1.800 kW onder belasting en tot 10.000 kW in onbelaste werking - ook voor externe klanten en andere merken. Ons testveld is uitgerust met de nieuwste elektronische en mechanische meettechnologie, zoals 6 kV converters, roterende converters voor alle gangbare spanningen van 3 tot 13,8 kV en belastingsweerstanden voor het testen van stroomgeneratoren.
