Gegründet wurde das Unternehmen arcos Die Haarprofis 1985 von Kaufmann Konrad Schneck und Perückenmacher Günter Alex. Lange Zeit war die Produktion sowie der weltweite Vertrieb von Perücken und Toupets unter der Marke arcos deren Hauptgeschäft. Damit konnte sich arcos in der internationalen Zweithaarbranche einen Namen machen. Der dritte Geschäftsführer Oliver Schneck, Betriebswirt und Sohn von Konrad Schneck, kam 1993 hinzu. Im Jahre 2005 erfand Günter Alex das einzigartige hairtalk Klebesystem und schuf damit die Marke hairtalk. Dahinter steckte der Gedanke, Haarverlängerungen „für jedermann erschwinglich“ zu produzieren, trotzdem sollte auf Qualität höchsten Wert gelegt werden. Auch der Zeitfaktor spielte bei der Erfindung eine Rolle. Eine Haarverlängerung sollte in weniger als einer Stunde machbar sein, da den Kundinnen bei den bisherigen Haarverlängerungsmethoden stundenlanges Ausharren auf dem Friseurstuhl abverlangt wurde. Beim Entfernen der Haarverlängerung war bisher immer mit Haarbruch zu rechnen, was mit der Erfindung von hairtalk anders werden sollte. Inzwischen ist die Marke hairtalk das Zugpferd der Firma und wird aktuell in 46 Ländern weltweit vertrieben. Derzeit gibt es in Deutschland ca. 450 Zweithaar- und über 2.500 geschulte hairtalk Friseure.
