Kronenberg has been the reliable supplier for door interlocks and safety components all around the lift industry.
As early as in 1951 the former founders of the company, Hans and Josef Kronenberg, applied for a patent for a door interlock with an integrated fail-safe system, the faulty closure device.
The use of door interlocks with faulty closure device has been mandatory since 1967 and included in the regulations of the German Elevator Committee.
The design principle of those door interlocks has remained unchanged to the present date and has been largely adapted by other manufacturers.
Kronenberg door interlocks are today in service throughout the world and are installed in lifts with both swing and sliding doors.

With door interlocks and landing doors there are some terms that often occur and we fully explain their use and definitions:
Door Locked Contact:
Electrical contact for the supervision of the position of the latch bolt.
In the „locked“ position the contact is closed. The door locked contact exists in each door interlock.
Auxiliary switch:
Electrical switch in the door interlock available as option for further switching functions, e.g. as additional input signal for controls.
Door Closed Switch/Contact:
Electrical Switch/Contact for the supervision of the door position.
In the „closed“ position the contact is closed. The door closed contact exists in some door interlocks as standard, may be supplied as an optional extra, but may be supplied as a separate switch.
