Innovations for more than 150 years
The company was founded in 1863 in Mannheim, Germany, as a brickyard and succeeded in developing its first pathbreaking innovation, chemical stoneware, in 1888. Numerous new developments followed. Among other things, the company started in the mid of the past century processing plastics and combined modern and traditional materials when producing chemical devices and facilities.
The following years were characterised by the expansion in the core business and the opening up of more and more new business segments. As Deutsche Steinzeug and later as Friedrichsfeld GmbH, the company, which has been operating under the name FRIATEC AG since 1993, continuously developed to become an internationally active, diversified company.
Spectrum of innovative solutions
As such, FRIATEC AG today offers a spectrum of innovative solutions for many industries, e.g. jointing technology for pipe systems, special pumps for aggressive, volatile or explosive media, but also ceramic components which are used in laboratory and electrical engineering but also in medical engineering. With its sophisticated solutions, FRIATEC AG is not only among the most well-known and well-established companies in the metropolitan region Rhine-Neckar but is also one of the global market leaders of its industry.
Partner of a powerful community
Since 2003, FRIATEC AG has been a member of the ALIAXIS group of companies with headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. ALIAXIS is the worldwide largest producer of plastic pipe systems for the construction industry, the industry and utilities.

TQS - Une jeune entreprise avec une longue tradition
L'entreprise a été fondée en 1910 à Berlin sous le nom de Deutsch-Englische-Quarzschmelze GmbH. Elle fabriquait principalement des produits en quartz pour les applications les plus diverses dans l'industrie chimique, alors encore jeune et prospère.
En 1957, l'entreprise a déménagé à Mayence où elle a été gérée jusqu'en 1965 comme une joint-venture entre TSL - Thermal Syndicate Ltd (Angleterre) et Jenaer Glaswerke Schott+Genossen (Allemagne).
En 1965, l'entreprise est devenue une filiale à 100 % du groupe TSL et a transféré son siège à Wiesbaden sous le nom de TQS - Thermal Quarz-Schmelze GmbH.
À partir de cette époque, le site de Wiesbaden s'est concentré sur le développement continu d'émetteurs infrarouges en quartz et de composants en verre de quartz optique. Une grande importance a toujours été accordée à une étroite collaboration avec les clients. De nombreux nouveaux développements et améliorations ont ainsi pu être menés à bien au fil des années.
En 1988, l'ensemble du groupe TSL a été repris par le groupe français Saint-Gobain.
À partir de l'an 2000, la société de Wiesbaden a pris le nom de Saint-Gobain Quartz GmbH, Wiesbaden.
En 2009, à la suite d'un management buyout, l'entreprise a pu se donner un cadre juridiquement indépendant sous le logo toujours bien connu TQS – Technical Quartz Solutions GmbH -.
La dernière étape de la longue histoire de TQS® a eu lieu au début de l'année 2015, lorsque l'entreprise d'exportation VS Technical Supplies GmbH, basée à Francfort, a acquis 100 % des parts de TQS®.
La direction est aujourd'hui assurée par M. Volker Schmidt.

Our portfolio of consumables comprises a large selection of Glass Products
and Disposables for Cell and Tissue Culture, Chemistry and Chromatography, and
for general lab applications. In addition, a wide range of Plates, Reservoirs, Sealing
Foils, and Special Consumables are available for our wide range of equipment.
-Immunoreagents-
We also offer various Antibodies, Antigens, Proteins and ELISA Kits for research and manufacturing purposes; Human and Animal Whole Blood, Plasma, Sera and Complement preserved Sera; Substrates and Reagents for ELISA, IHC, Blotting, and Microarray; along with Products to stabilize RNA and DNA samples.
