Rudolf Kiesewetter, qui a donné son nom à l'usine Excelsior Rudolf Kiesewetter à Leipzig, a fondé en 1908 la première usine d'instruments de mesure en Allemagne. En 1942, l'usine a été détruite, mais elle a été reconstruite à la fin de la guerre au prix d'efforts considérables et infatigables.
M. Kiesewetter est décédé en 1958. La même année, l'entreprise est devenue une entreprise semi-publique. Dans l'ancienne RDA, Kiesewetter est devenu le fabricant exclusif d'une série de produits de métrologie. Les appareils de mesure pour tableaux de commande et les posemètres comptaient parmi les principaux produits. Les appareils de surveillance, de conversion et d'enregistrement de grandeurs électriques et physiques constituaient un autre point fort.
Avec la réunification de l'Allemagne, Rudolf Kiesewetter Messtechnik GmbH a connu une nouvelle naissance. Le travail acharné, la persévérance, la volonté de fer et l'anticipation constante, combinés à des visions, ont donné naissance à des produits de très haut niveau.
