HIGH-STRENGTH JOIN CONNECTIONS WITH VISUALLY APPEALING WELD SEAMSWith the process of laser welding, we create precision seams on components made of metal at high speeds. Pulsed and continuously beaming lasers with a high beam quality up to 3.5kW-cw and 7kW-pw capacity are at our disposal. With this, we can achieve, for example, the following welding depths: in steel up to 8 mm, in aluminium alloys up to approx. 3 mm, in titanium up to 8 mm. Here you can find further information on our job order production offers. In fine welding, we achieve seam widths of as low as 0.1 millimetres. Joints on welding-critical materials (such as sinter materials or ceramic) as well as high-quality welding joints (e.g. helium-proof) can be effected on a wide range of materials. Examples for weldable materials: copper alloys (also coated), platinum, zinc-coated steel sheet, tungsten, aluminium oxide ceramics, plastics and others. We are welding in compliance with DIN, e.g. according to the Pressure Vessels Directive and we have available a comprehensive range of possibilities for process documentation such as performance transcripts, weld beam monitoring and quality monitoring by means of modern image processing.

Laser Welding - Universal process for complex geometrie
s REUTER TECHNOLOGIE realises all seam geometries such as butt welds, lap welds or fillet welds with laser welding. Depending on the workpiece, the ambient atmosphere can be freely selected. A further advantage: The large working distance between the workpiece and the laser source (up to about 500 mm) also allows welding of hard-to-reach areas. Large gap widths can be bridged by suitable filler materials. However, the most important advantage of laser welding is the low thermal distortion that the process causes in the workpiece. After all, the small laser spot only leads to a highly localized melting of the material during the welding process.
REUTER services for laser welding:
- Very material-friendly joining technologyhardly any distortion, short welding time, low heat input
- Precise joining technology for many materialse.g. stainless and tool steels, copper, aluminium alloys...
- High-quality connection: durable, reproducible, material-locking(also vacuum-tight!)
- No distortion, no crackslow melt volume
- Microscope optics and controlled rotary table for high-precision and reproducible approach to the joint

1. Process Description:
Laser welding employs a high-intensity laser beam to melt and fuse materials together. The focused laser energy is directed precisely at the joint area, creating a molten pool that solidifies to form a strong weld.
2. Types of Laser Sources:
Fiber Lasers: Known for their high efficiency and excellent beam quality, fiber lasers are commonly used in industrial applications for their adaptability and low operating costs.
YAG (Yttrium Aluminum Garnet) Lasers: Conventional solid-state lasers, often utilized in applications requiring deep penetration and precision.
CO2 Lasers: Used for welding non-metallic materials and certain metals, providing a large spot size and deep penetration capability.
3. Welding Techniques:
Butt Welding: Joining two materials edge-to-edge, often used for sheet metals and structural components.
Overlap Welding: Joining materials end-to-end or overlapping, commonly used in thin materials.
Fillet Welding: Creating a joint at an angle, often used for frames and assemblies.
4. Key Parameters:
Laser Power: The intensity of the laser beam, which affects penetration depth and weld quality. Typically measured in watts (W).
Welding Speed: The rate at which the laser moves along the joint, influencing the heat input and overall weld quality.
Focus Diameter: The size of the laser beam focal point, affecting the energy concentration and weld characteristics.
5. Materials Compatibility:
Laser welding can be used on various materials, including:
Metals: Steel, aluminum, copper, titanium, and other alloys.
Plastics: Certain types of thermoplastics and composite materials.
6. Advantages:
High Weld Quality: Produces strong, clean welds with minimal defects, reducing the need for post-weld processing.
Low Heat Input: Limits thermal distortion and preserves material properties.
Automation Friendly: Easily integrated into robotic and automated systems for high-volume production.
7. Applications:
Widely used in industries such as automotive (joining car frames and components), aerospace (structural assemblies), electronics (welding circuit boards), and medical devices.
8. Safety Considerations:
Operators must use appropriate safety measures, including eye protection and safety protocols, as laser beams can cause serious injuries.
9. Quality Control:
Non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, such as ultrasonic testing, are often employed to examine weld integrity and detect any potential defects without damaging the materials.
10. Future Trends:
Ongoing advancements in laser technology and automation techniques are driving innovations in laser welding processes, expanding applications, and improving efficiency and quality.

Our welding machines are compact, portable, and user-friendly. The weld beam is aesthetically pleasing and requires no grinding after welding. Besides, we can provide various customized services. For example, we can connect the welding head to the robotic arm, enabling automated welding of complex components.
Laser welding outperforms traditional methods with key advantages: High energy density enables ultra-precise, narrow welds with minimal heat input, drastically reducing the heat-affected zone (HAZ) and material distortion—ideal for delicate parts. It operates at significantly faster speeds, enhancing productivity in mass production. It excels at joining dissimilar metals or thin materials that traditional techniques (e.g., arc welding) often struggle with. Additionally, its controlled heat application minimizes defects, yielding stronger, more consistent welds, and it integrates seamlessly with automation for precision in industries like automotive and aerospace.
Weldable materials: carbon steel plates, stainless steel plates, aluminum plates, etc.Max welding thickness: 1mm to 5mm.
Besides flexibility, essential requirements for long-term market success on today's market are a willingness toward technical innovations through investing in the company and of course qualified and energetic staff. Körber Feinmechanik GmbH fulfills these requirements in an impressive manner.
