During recycling, waste, residual materials or waste are returned to the production cycle, i.e. these materials are partly or completely processed and recycled for the manufacture of new products. Recycling thus serves to avoid waste and to protect increasingly scarce raw materials. In addition, CO² emissions are reduced and the consumption of energy and water is reduced, which in turn contributes to energy savings. Paper, glass, plastic and metal are just a few examples of recyclable materials. With some devices, such as the mobile phone, only some parts can be recycled and not the entire device. For this purpose, the devices are dismantled and parts containing gold, for example, are removed and recycled. The gold won in this way is returned to the production cycle and is used, among other things, in medicine. An example of this would be dental fillings.
