Properties and classification of electrodes Graphite electrodes are used in electric arc furnaces used in metallurgy and foundry for the manufacture of steel, cast iron ii ferroalloys. Graphite electrodes have low electrical resistance, low ash content, high mechanical strength, high resistance to sudden temperature changes and high efficiency in the melting process. These characteristics are obtained as a result of prolonged, complex production cycle, in which the important role played by proper selection of raw materials and continuous monitoring of the process.
