Rotronic is an international development and manufacturing company that offers a wide range of products and solutions in the B2B segment. Founded in 1965, the company is headquartered in Switzerland and offers solutions for measuring and monitoring relative humidity, temperature, CO2, differential pressure, pressure, flow, dew point, and water activity. The company began the digital transformation already in the year 2000, investing in automated data transfer (machine-to-machine). With the development and launch of its RMS monitoring software, Rotronic further strengthened its position as a key supplier of measurement solutions.

Rudolf Kiesewetter, die zijn naam gaf aan de Excelsiorfabriek Rudolf Kiesewetter in Leipzig, richtte in 1908 de eerste meetinstrumentenfabriek in Duitsland op. In 1942 werd de fabriek verwoest, maar na het einde van de oorlog met grote en onvermoeibare inzet weer opgebouwd.
De heer Kiesewetter overleed in 1958. In hetzelfde jaar werd het bedrijf een semi-overheidsbedrijf. In de voormalige DDR werd Kiesewetter de enige fabrikant van een reeks meettechnische producten. De belangrijkste producten waren schakelpaneelmeters en lichtmeters. Een andere focus lag op apparaten voor het bewaken, omzetten en registreren van elektrische en fysische grootheden
