De wortels van de Göritzhainer Maschinenfabrik gaan terug tot het begin van de jaren 1970, toen Karl-Friedrich Machan zijn eigen bedrijf op het gebied van transporttechniek oprichtte in Augsburg. In 1993 verhuisde het bedrijf naar Lunzenau.
Sinds 2022 leidt zijn zoon Jürgen Machan het familiebedrijf.

The family-owned company KNOLL supplies manufacturers and users of machine tools worldwide with conveying, filtering and pumping systems. With over 1,000 employees, KNOLL is the largest company in the Upper Swabian town of Bad Saulgau. Walter Knoll founded the company in a 200 m² hall in 1970. It has been growing constantly on its own premises since 1974. In the beginning, the built-up area was 900 m², in 2015 it's already covering more than 54,000 m². Due to a high vertical range of manufacture, the added value remains within the company. The connection and responsibility to the structurally weak region are firmly anchored in the company's philosophy.
