Tuning refers to an optical as well as technical modification of e.g. motor vehicles of any kind and form. In the field of information technology, this is also referred to as fine-tuning certain parameters of a database. The variable properties of a database application can also be fine-tuned in this context. The goal here is usually performance, i.e. performance improvement. In the field of science, this means an adjustment of quantification levels, read-out cycles, exposure and other parameters which are important to achieve a good ratio between pixel noise and resolution.
