The tractor universal joint shaft is a connecting piece between the tractor and a technical implement which is attached to the tractor. The PTO shaft has the task of driving this implement by rotating movements. The PTO drive is controlled directly on the tractor itself. The PTO only functions when the tractor itself is started. The power of the motor is transmitted to the shaft. Modern tractors have a PTO shaft connection at the front and rear. A manure spreader, for example, is driven by the PTO shaft. On the manure spreader there is a scraper floor which pushes the load backwards through the PTO shaft, where the spreading unit is located. The spreading unit also rotates through the PTO drive and as the dung is crushed and scattered on the field. The PTO drive is also absolutely necessary for a mower. The blades of the mower are moved by the rotation of the PTO shaft and cut the grass at the desired height. Especially with the mowers there are implements which are mounted at the front of the tractor, therefore the PTO connection at the front part of the tractor is also important. There are still numerous other technical implements in agriculture which are operated by PTO, e.g. the loader wagon with scraper floor. Since the implements often have different distances to the tractor, i.e. the tractor, a separate PTO shaft is usually required for each implement. Only the connection to the tractor is in a standardized size. The PTO shaft is therefore already integrated in most implements when they are purchased.
