A bus is a means of transport that can carry a large number of people. There are a large number of different types of buses. In the private sector mini vans are mainly of interest for large families with lots of children, which offer enough space for every body, as well as place for shopping and storage space for holiday trips. Most buses are however considerably larger and used in public transport.

The most famous coaches are probably the service buses, which are usually limited to small, uncommitted lines of a city or town and there stop at various bus stops to let people off and enter.

To drive such a bus, a specific driving license is necessary, as the "normal" driving license is not sufficient. In addition to buses, there are a lot of coaches in Germany. These are usually rented by clubs and school classes for trips and journeys, as this is the best alternative to flying and is very suitable for smaller distances.

For major sports events special buses will often be made available, which bring the fans safely to the stadium or to the hall and pick them up from there as well. Frequently you will find buses in major cities with the roof open as tourist buses which offer a city tour and depart daily.
