Emergency seats - Use and instructions seats that are only occasionally used and usually folded away are called emergency seats. Such folding seats are often used in waiting areas in doctors' surgeries, hospitals and nursing homes, but they are also used in passenger elevators. In vehicle construction, emergency seats are also often fitted. In order to make better use of the limited space, these folding seats supplement the space available in the interiors of aircraft, buses and trains, cars and motorhomes if required. They are also available on open tractors and self-propelled machines. The equipment regulations for motor vehicles permit such built-in folding seats; depending on the application, they can also be arranged laterally or against the direction of travel. When transporting passengers in public places, safety belts must also be worn on the emergency seats occupied during the journey. The use of emergency seats in airplanes is subject to special conditions. Due to their space-saving purpose, emergency seats in vehicles such as motor homes can also be retrofitted, in buildings retrofitting is usually no problem at all, provided that statics, safety and function are not impaired during installation. In a passenger lift or waiting area, for example, a folding seat can be attached without great effort. Emergency seats for retrofitting in vehicles must bear an"E-approval mark".
