Smoothing machines are used for flattening or pressing of various objects and minerals. In the cleaning industry, particularly large hair straighteners are used. These serve to smooth the freshly cleaned laundry. In most cases, drying nozzles are also fed to the cleaned laundry pieces at the same time. This creates an ironing effect on a very large scale. Smoothing machines are also used in other branches of industry. Examples of this are the food industry and the metalworking industry.
