The Form In Place combination gasket is especially interesting due to its outstanding features. The combination gasket consists of a soft, non-conductive silicone core that is coated with a conductive outer skin. This is dosed onto the sealing surface of a housing in a single, process-safe operation using an X-Y-Z dosing system. There it cures at room temperature to a conductive, soft and elastic combination gasket. The low level of Shore A hardness of the patented combination design generates low counteracting forces when assembling the housing and compensates large housing tolerances. The soft combination gasket helps to maintain the form, especially with plastic housings. Compared to solid material gaskets, lower assembly forces reduce the need to use fastening screws.
As an alternative, the gasket can be dispensed onto foil for later processing. Direct dispensing onto printed circuit boards is also possible.
