In quantum physics, scientists at the Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden succeeded in 2011 in creating real ones from virtual photons in a vacuum. With this, these scientists around Christopher Wilson have confirmed a thesis of the American physicist Gerald Moore from 1970, according to which real particles can be formed from virtual particles in a vacuum. In industry, a vacuum is used, among other things, to remove moisture or gases from a dry material in a time-saving and gentle way using lower boiling temperatures at negative pressure. Vacuum dryers are used for this purpose, which usually consist of a chamber or a container, at least one vacuum pump, a device for transferring heat to a dry material and a condenser for removing moisture from the vacuum. Nevertheless, vacuum dryers differ in form, construction and other accessories depending on their area of application.So 30 meter long vacuum tubes are used in the wood processing industry, in which wood moisture is extracted and this crack-free and in a few hours or days. In the chemical and pharmaceutical industry tumble dryers are used for pourable materials. Due to the arrangement of the vacuum container to its axis of rotation, hence its name, tumble dryers enable optimum mixing and heat transfer with minimum energy input.
