Rudolf Kiesewetter, who gave his name to the Excelsior factory Rudolf Kiesewetter in Leipzig, founded the first measuring instrument factory in Germany in 1908. In 1942, the factory was destroyed, but rebuilt after the end of the war with great and tireless efforts.
Mr. Kiesewetter died in 1958. In the same year, the company became a semi-state-owned enterprise. In the former GDR, Kiesewetter developed into the sole manufacturer for a range of measurement technology products. The main products included switch panel meters and exposure meters.
