In the modern age, electricity is needed more urgently than ever. The entire progress of mankind depends on it. The electrical energy is generated in power plants. There are a wide variety of technical facilities that not only increase efficiency but also increase environmental compatibility.A large part of the electrical energy is generated in so-called steam power plants. These use the energy of steam to power the generator. This involves the combustion of a wide variety of fuels. In addition to coal, this can also be regenerative solar energy. The high heat converts the water from a liquid to a gaseous state. The steam that is generated during this process is subjected to enormous pressure. The pressure is fed into a turbine. Here the energy of the steam is converted into kinetic energy. The turbine ultimately drives the generator. Some power plants are also constructed as motors. Fuels such as natural gas (fossil), biogas or wood gas (both regenerative) are burned in generators. These motors drive a generator. The waste heat from the motor is used for heating. In the wind turbine (WTG), the kinetic energy of the wind is used to drive a generator via the rotor shaft. The corresponding technology in the power plants must be very stable and robust in order to make the high forces and capacities controllable. In addition, suitable process control technology is used to control the entire process.
