Digested sludge mixers are devices which are used for mixing sewage sludge. These are therefore mostly used in sewage treatment plants. In the first purification steps, such as the separation of the largest and coarsest dirt particles from the wastewater, they are used to treat the sewage sludge. This is usually discharged from the system into external containers during the wastewater treatment process. There it is worked up by mixing and made usable further. Sewage sludge is an excellent source of energy due to its enormous biogas production. Due to the very rapid decomposition process caused by bacteria, large quantities of biogas are released here. This can in turn generate energy through combustion, which can be converted into electrical current. Many wastewater treatment plants thus produce a certain part of their energy requirements themselves and keep their running costs to a minimum.
