Reusing discarded products and materials as a source of raw materials - when ALBA was launched in 1968, this idea was considered a desirable but unrealistic utopia. From the very beginning, ALBA saw more in waste than annoying disposable products and invested early on in technologies to process the recyclable materials they contained. Because we already recognized at that time: This secures the future of Germany as an industrial location. And a clean environment secures the future of mankind.
As early as the beginning of the 1970s, we started to collect and recycle glass, paper and cardboard separately in Berlin. We came up with the "Berlin Model" - the separation of recyclables according to material fractions, which is what makes high-quality recycling possible in the first place and is now used throughout Germany.
