Uopac (rod and piston sealing) is a pressure-dependent, single direction sealing element. It consists of a moulded rubber part (e.g. O-ring) as a static spring element for the seal preload, and a U-sleeve made of PTFE (PT044), the actual dynamic seal. Because the rubber moulded part is only subjected to static stress, all elastomer qualities can be used as required and, together with the PTFE U-sleeve, good chemical and temperature resistance can be achieved for the entire seal.
The advantageous properties of PTFE, which are known to be beneficial for sealing, are brought to bear in the dynamic U-sleeve of the seal. They result in low friction, high abrasion resistance, chemical resistance, good dry running properties, no swelling, high temperature resistance and insensitivity to dirt.
The static and dynamic coefficient of friction are almost equal. This ensures smooth movement without chattering (stick-slip) even at the lowest sliding speeds. Even after a long standstill a smooth start-up is ensured.
