The wood gasification boiler is one of the boilers in the broadest sense. In it, logs are not burnt, but gassed. These wood gases are then burned. This procedure ensures very high efficiency with relatively low pollutant generation.The wood gasification boiler is a multi-chamber boiler. In the upper chamber, the laminated logs are fired up and the residual moisture is removed by the heat generated. After that the wood gasification starts very quickly. The lighter gases are still burned in the upper chamber, while the heavier wood gases enter the lower chamber and are burned at a temperature of about 1100 degrees. Very important in a wood gasification boiler is to supply fresh air to enable the combustion process. The usual chimney effect, in which air sucked in from below promotes combustion, cannot be used in this boiler because the wood gases are burned down. A distinction must be made between secondary and primary air. While the primary air controls the upper combustion process, the secondary air is required for the combustion of the wood gases in the lower boiler chamber. Both processes are controlled independently of each other.
