Flow forming is a technique offering a whole range of benefits.
However, flow forming always involves the procurement of a tool. This is viable from small production runs upwards. The greater the required quantity, the more favourable the price becomes, as the set-up costs are only incurred once. Even complex geometries can be implemented. Flow forming involves placing the sheet metal plate in front of the tool and applying a suitable rotary movement and contact pressure. The spot load applied by the pressure roller causes the material to flow and cling to the tool.
This produces seamless shapes to a high degree of accuracy, even with large production runs, as the control engineering used permits the required movement sequences to be precisely repeated any unlimited number of times.

Funnels & hoppers
The hopper or funnel is a conical (tapered) hollow body and is used to fill containers with small openings relative to the size of the container. Liquids such as water or fine-grained materials such as sand, gravel or granulate are added to the wide inlet of the funnel or hopper and then flow via the thinner outlet (neck) into the vessel.
Hoppers and funnels have also become firmly established in industry. Whether round or square, all types find their own appropriate area of use. Hoppers are used in every small or large filling system. The material to be used, the size and shape used to produce hoppers and funnels are always dependent on the subsequent use.
We produce hoppers and funnels made of stainless steel (e.g. 1.4301), made of aluminium, mild steel such as S235 / S355, made of deep drawn steel DD11 or even from wear-resistant steel (e.g. Hardox). They can be produced using different methods. One option is to Roll the material, in order to achieve the required shape. Another option is to produce them by bending with subsequent folding to achieve the appropriate degree of rounding. The end edges are then joined together by welding or tacking.
