Cartridges are a special form of cartridge filters.They are used in the field of microfiltration and usually filter in a fineness range between 1 µm - 80 µm.A coiled cartridge consists of a support body around which threads of microfibres are wound.Varying techniques, use of different strong (endless) threads and tensile force variations during winding can achieve different filter fineness grades. There are two standard compositions: The core and fibers are made of polypropylene or the support body is made of stainless steel, the fibers are made of cotton.Polypropylene winding candles are suitable for alkaline solutions, aqueous media, acids and fine chemicals with a maximum temperature of 90 °C.Cotton-stainless steel winding candles are used at operating temperatures between 90 and 120 °C or under chemical conditions that can lead to the decomposition of polyethylene.Wrap filters made of nylon, acrylate, glass fibre, viscose or nylon as well as custom-made products are also available for other operating conditions.Wrap candles are used, for example, in the food and beverage industry and the pharmaceutical industry. They serve as pre-filters in water treatment, for filtering cistern water and for cleaning edible oils.wind filters have the advantage that they combine a high absorption capacity with a low pressure loss.
