Data networks are groups of different independent, technical primary systems such as computers, as well as actuators and sensors. Amongst these also are wireless technical components. This allows, among other things, the communication of the individual system components with one another. These components communicate via different protocols. These are structured by means of the ISO/OSI model. In practice, however no computer depicts this model. In principle, they are comprised of many smaller more complex base structures. Here, higher protocol layers for operating procedures are accessed via simpler underlying protocols. The key principle which is used is the use of the individual protocol layers respective user data, which can be passed on to be transported. The protocol layer ignores this content and attaches further additional information at the front or rear end, which are crucial for the processing of transportation. However, there are exceptions. Certain protocols are not intended for user data transport. But rather as independent ready to stand information systems. Universally known structure in this respect is the Internet. This includes the most well known protocols such as TCP or IP. Also other protocols are used on the Internet. The Internet itself is a non-homogeneous network and consists of many different subnets which have only top protocol layers in common.
