AWISTA GmbH has been commissioned by the state capital of Düsseldorf with the collection of waste and recyclable materials, which in addition to residual waste includes, for example, waste paper, waste glass, biowaste, packaging waste, electronic scrap, waste wood, bulky waste and other recyclable materials such as old clothes.
Until now, the collection and recycling of old clothes has been carried out by a subcontractor of AWISTA, which was also the owner of the old clothes containers. By taking over the collection of old clothes under its own management from January 2014, AWISTA is closing a gap in its waste disposal portfolio: around 600 new and own containers were set up in the city area in January (6-20 January), replacing the previous old clothes containers 1:1. The new containers are larger and more beautiful than the previous ones and with their CE seal they comply with the legal requirements. The collection of old clothes and site cleaning is now carried out by AWISTA employees.
