Numerous groups of goods and products can be described as gift articles across all industries. Special importance is attached here to all products that have been specially manufactured for the purpose of giving away. This includes e.g. lighters, pens and other so-called giveaways. Such articles from the wholesale trade are mostly intended for corporate customers and business partners, often these are provided with a company imprint and advertising. Pure gifts for private consumers are primarily flowers, chocolates, balloons, accessories for packaging (wrapping paper and ribbons) and greeting cards. The expanded product range usually consists of jewellery and decorative objects made of beautiful materials such as glass, porcelain or crystal. The classification of gifts can only be rough, because in principle all products available on the market such as spirits, textiles and electrical appliances or services (short trips, concert tickets) can be marketed as gifts. The handover often takes the form of a voucher, the payment of which is immediately taken over by the customer and which is later redeemed by the recipient. Florists are seeing increased revenue especially on Mother's Day and increasingly also on Valentine's Day. The strongest sales boosts are experienced by specialty gift retailers, especially in the pre-Christmas period.
