The term "wellness" comes from the English language and means "well-being". In the 1950s, this term first appeared with its modern meaning in the USA and also became established in German parlance. Nowadays it is mainly used in connection with activities, offers and products that are intended to increase general well-being. For example, massages and saunas, but also certain foods that are considered particularly healthy, low in fat and rich in vitamins, are offered to improve physical well-being. But mind and soul are also integrated into the holistic wellness concept when relaxation techniques and methods for stress reduction are taught. Particularly in demand are wellness holidays or weekends, which offer, often at a flat rate, healthy food and various treatments such as baths or cosmetic treatments for singles and couples. Wellness hotels often advertise attractive landscapes and untouched nature, which also takes into account the idea of holistic relaxation and recreation. Of course, physical exercise is also part of wellness, but this is done in a moderate setting, for example during walks or gymnastics. Wellness refers to a health-conscious, balanced lifestyle that avoids stress and excesses of all kinds and can concentrate on healthy, environmentally friendly nutrition, sufficient exercise and the avoidance of stress and counteract so many diseases of civilization.A little bit of wellness can also be brought home by buying certain wellness products at home in your own bathroom.
