The conventional production of specimens for notched bar impact tests involves considerable effort. For example, the planed or milled specimens must be precisely aligned, clamped and, depending on the specimen thickness, precisely milled for milling the notch. A notch is inserted much faster and therefore much more economically with the notch broaching machine described above. In addition, a higher precision of the notch is usually achieved. Why is the machine so rational? The active principle is designed in such a way that the reference value for the notch base is always set at 8 mm. Even if the specimen is only 9.5 mm thick (reduced sizes / manufacturing tolerances), 8.0 mm still remain in the notch base. The position of the sample on the sample clamp is set. The broach always has the correct distance to this wall - no matter what the size of the sample is ... No adjustment is required for the exact insertion of the notch (notch depth)!

The machine cuts V- + U-notch within 30 sec. (steel) or 15 sec. (plastic) incl. assembly. The machine is mounted in a free-standing housing. The broach is guided by a double lead screw. These are connected to a continuously variable transmission. The desired notch depth can be set on the machine. The workpiece holder is equipped with a metric calibration scale. Limit switches limit the stroke of the broach. Operating keys: UP/DOWN + STOP.
