Manual grinding machines are either electric or compressed air driven and have a relatively low speed. This is almost 5000 revolutions per minute. Even at such a low speed of rotation, the abrasion in the form of dust does not fail to occur. To ensure that work is possible despite the high dust formation, water is usually fed in for grinding, with which the abrasion is bound or sucked off. Alternatively, simple dust masks, safety goggles, special cotton clothing and hearing protection can be used. However, this does not include wearing gloves. Hand grinders are often used in stone processing, as the stones can be processed in a more controlled way than with a stationary grinder. Which types of grinders are there? Hand grinders are generally always the same. The only thing that can be distinguished are the grinding wheels. Which one needs depends on what needs to be ground. For the processing of metal and stone, grinding wheels and diamond grinding wheels for concrete, screed and natural stone are usually used. Fan or rubber grinding wheels or cup brushes are mainly used for polishing or easy removal of surfaces, depending on the material to be processed.
