Description
Show more Most precipitation gauges collect the precipitation as punctual precipitation measurement in a measuring vessel. One millimetre (measuring unit) corresponds to the water height (precipitation height) of 1 mm, which would result if no water were to run off. Alternatively, the water quantity (precipitation quantity) is often also indicated in l / m2 (flat surface). This is particularly important in the field of flood management (verification or calibration of punctual measured values). In addition to the pure precipitation height or quantity, the intensity and duration of precipitation are also important.

About us
Show more The Spohr company was founded in 1884 by Christian Spohr. From the beginning, the company was engaged in the manufacture of electric water level indicators. In addition, telephone and telegraph systems, as well as clock systems (tower clocks) were also manufactured. Until 1905, Christian Spohr was the city clockmaker for the city of Frankfurt.
In 1901, an employee of the company had the idea for a "grooved well whistle with acoustic signal". This "original fountain whistle" was registered as a utility model in 1902.
Carl Spohr (1877 - 1957) managed the company from 1908 onwards. Mainly concerned with the manufacture and assembly of complex electrical clock systems and with repairs to switchgear, the company continued to develop water level measurement technology.
Heinz Spohr (1912 - 2002) joined the company in 1931 and became a partner in 1939. He concentrated in particular on water level measurement technology and invented the "Lichtlot" (DRGM1279419 "Diving rod with light signal") as early as 1933, which was further developed into the "Kabellichtlot" in the 1950s. The light plummet and fountain whistle are on display in the Deutsches Museum in Munich. In addition, various models of float writing gauges were developed for different purposes.
In 1979 the business was transferred to the newly founded SPOHR-Messtechnik GmbH, whose management was taken over by Peter Spohr (born 1949). The existing product range was further developed and above all the foreign business intensified.
In 1996, the company was certified according to DIN ISO9001. In 2002, the certification according to the new standard DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 was successfully passed.
Since May 2014 SPOHR Messtechnik GmbH has a new owner. The new management continues the company in the sense of the traditional values of the family business SPOHR.
In 2016 SPOHR was awarded for more than 15 years of successful certifications.
For decades, production in the Spohr company has been organized by hand. A high level of qualification as well as independence and personal responsibility at work are a matter of course for all employees. This ensures a consistently high quality and reliability of the devices and a flexible, long-term service. A rational internal processing and a minimal administrative effort ensure a particularly favourable price/quality ratio for all devices, spare parts and services.
