In medical terminology thermography means the measurement of the body's own heat emission or heat loss over the outer surfaces of the skin. Thermograms can be displayed using thermal imaging cameras or other different image recording devices that react to infrared (i.e. to thermal radiation). These are "thermal image cards" that depict the human (or animal) body or individual body parts in contrast to its external world. An immediate and direct display allows the use of special liquid crystals which are applied to the skin.differences in skin temperature result from the number of blood vessels in the examined skin area and their distance from the skin surface as well as from other influences. Abnormal abnormalities may indicate a deep-seated disorder. For example, particularly warm areas are sometimes over cancerous lesions, and a low temperature may indicate that a blood vessel is blocked by a clot (thrombus).In the technique, thermography is a printing and copying process that was frequently used before the advent of xerography. A special ink is heated so that the printed letters appear raised. Further areas of application for thermography with thermography devices are, among others, in the fire brigade to find hidden sources of fire, in the police and the Federal Border Guard to find persons, but also when checking the insulation on external walls and roofs.
