Description
Calibration is the testing of a measuring instrument prescribed by law and used in legal transactions (e.g. sale of bags with the same nominal quantity). Scales subject to legal metrology are tested at regular intervals by the weights and measures office and are marked with a calibration mark if the permissible error limits are observed.
All scales from our production can be calibrated.
Since 2015, a conformity assessment procedure (formerly initial verification) must be carried out in cooperation with a "Notified Body" (usually located at the Office of Weights and Measures). At the end of the first 2 years, regular recalibration is carried out as before.
Technical data
Calibration periods according to calibration regulations §12 (excerpt):
(1) The validity of the calibration is limited to 2 years, unless otherwise stated in Annex B.
Deviations, for example:
- Non-automatic weighing instruments with a maximum capacity of 3000 kilograms or more - 3 years
- Instruments used as verified checkweighers to comply with a provision of the Verification Act or a legal ordinance or other legal provisions issued on the basis of the Verification Act - 1 year
- Autonomous checkweighers including automatic sorting scales - 1 year
