To insure the higher requirements of the environmental protection, legislator increases the regulations for pipeline-operators. Operators of pipelines for the transportation of water-polluting liquids must prove the tightness of their pipeline regularly. For the classical method of leak detection is it necessary to shutdown the pipeline for several days. The ARS leak detection pigs float with the product-stream through the pipeline. A shutdown of the pipeline isn’t necessary. We invested several years and a large capital into the development of the leak detection pigs. For effective cathodic corrosion protection, a system to be protected must meet several basic electrical properties. If one or more of these requirements are not fulfilled by a fault, the effectiveness of the cathodic protection may not be given under certain circumstances.
By systematic troubleshooting, these faults can be localised and eliminated on the object to be protected. Typical errors such as

• Connection to earthed systems,
• Interruptions in longitudinal conductivity,
• Sheathing faults (see intensive measurement/IFO),
• Influences by other cathodically protected objects or
• Defects in corrosion protection and anode plants

can be reliably located using suitable measuring methods and special measuring equipment.
