Internal combustion engines are machines that can perform mechanical work using thermal energy. This is made possible by the combustion of fuel. The respective fuel passes through a process of air mixing by adding heat and pressure to the kinetic energy. The resulting pressure conditions must be kept constant. This principle is used, for example, in conventional combustion engines. A distinction is made between two general types of such engines. These are on the one hand the turbomachines and on the other hand the internal combustion engines.
