Radiation therapy is one of the most effective treatments for many types of cancer. It works by directing ionising radiation, e.g. X-rays, specifically at the tumour or by introducing radioactive preparations directly into the tumour. The surrounding healthy tissue is largely spared by the radiation. Radiotherapy can be combined with numerous forms of therapy, such as surgery, chemotherapy or hyperthermia. If a cure for the tumor disease is not possible, radiotherapy can in many cases eliminate or alleviate symptoms such as pain and shortness of breath, which limit the quality of life.

Our medical group uses the latest innovative technology in the treatment of tumor diseases. Modern radiation therapy is used today in more than 70% of tumor treatments. It is used either as a self-standing therapy or in combination with chemotherapy before or after surgery. In particular, the combined treatments of radiotherapy require a close interdisciplinary exchange between all participating physicians. Radiation Cologne therefore works with almost all major tumor centers in Cologne and the surrounding area. We are members of the Rheinischen Tumor Center and core partners of various organ centers.
