Metal striking plates attached to the door frame ensure that the lock and bolt fit tightly into the frame. If they (especially in the case of external doors) are corroded after several years and thus no longer hold firmly, intruders have an easy job: A firm jerk - and the strike plate breaks off the frame. Then it makes no difference whether the door was locked or not.
With older doors or those that are subject to heavy use in everyday life (i.e. opened and closed), a check from time to time makes sense in order to detect damaged strike plates early on. However, it often turns out that individual striking plates that match the door are not available at all - either because they were never offered separately (especially with cheaper door models) or because they have already been taken off the market. However, this is not only expensive (if ONLY the strike plates really had to be replaced), but also involves more extensive construction work. Because replacing a complete door is of course more complex than installing new strike plates, which can be screwed to the frame quickly and without expensive craftsmen.
Laser cutting technology opens up new possibilities here too and creates a cost-effective alternative, as can be seen in the example picture. The initial situation was as described - the strike plates had to be replaced, but there were no more suitable ones available on the market. Here, according to customer specifications, precisely fitting strike plates were manufactured from robust, 3 millimetre thick stainless steel with brushed and ground surface.
The template for our work was supplied by the customer himself. For this purpose, he had removed one of the strike plates to be replaced, measured it and traced it on the computer using CAD software. This blueprint was then uploaded via the geersCUTTING web shop, automatically checked for feasibility and then produced.
The customer also benefited from our price calculation system, in which the costs are linked to the desired production period. In urgent cases (for example, to quickly restore the security of external doors), a production time of two days with immediate delivery is possible. On the other hand, the customer can schedule less critical production orders with up to four weeks and thus save money!
