Most semi-precious stones consist of silicon dioxide.Elementary silicon is not toxic. In bound form, silicon is very important for the human body. This contains approx. 20 milligrams of silicon per kilogram of body weight. However, the proportion decreases with increasing age of humans. The ingestion of silicon or silica can counteract health problems very successfully. Silicon in this form strengthens the bone structure, hair, fingernails and toenails, especially externally. Silicon plays an outstanding role in the semiconductor industry.
