Cronidur® 30 is a high nitrogen, high corrosion resistant martensitic cold work steel with superior toughness at a hardness >58 HRc.
Electro-slag remelting at high pressure (DESU) allows nitrogen to be added beyond the usual solubility limit.
The homogeneous microstructure with finely distributed carbonitrides due to the remelting process combined with an excellent degree of purity results in outstanding dimensional stability, polishability and wear resistance.
In addition to the very high corrosion resistance, the influence of nitrogen has a positive effect on the mechanical properties, which leads to high strength combined with high fracture toughness and tempering resistance of up to 475°C.
Based on this unique combination of outstanding properties, the Cronidur® 30 both in highly stressed applications in aerospace, general mechanical engineering, medical, pharmaceutical and food technology, as well as for manufacturing high-quality consumer goods of various industries.
The Cronidur30 is excellently suited if high corrosion resistance in the hardened condition is required.
