Squirrel cage motors are another term for squirrel cage motors. These motors are most frequently used today. However, these are significantly more expensive.The squirrel cage motor is built up in the usual way. Within the fixed stator, the rotor rotates. The rotor consists of a winding with well conductive conductor rods. These rods are short-circuited at their ends, which is why the name Squirrel cage is also used. A current flow through the coils creates a magnetic field, which is responsible for the torque generated by the motor.
