Where goods are transported in containers, moisture is still one of the main causes of damage to products. Thus, rising temperatures ensure that the capacity of the ambient air increases and more water is absorbed. The effect is even stronger in the case of extreme climatic fluctuations, for example when crossing different climate zones. This allows the air in the container to be heated to such an extent that water vapor is stored to maximum saturation and released into the environment when the temperature drops. This is an effect which must be counteracted with the right measures, since moisture in the container can have serious consequences. Desiccants for containers come in a handy bag filled with calcium chloride that absorbs moisture from the environment.

Desiccants for containers are the ideal choice for many loads and ensure safe and undamaged transport. In the tear-resistant bag filled with calcium chloride and modified starch, the moisture is absorbed, transformed into gel and bound so that water cannot escape again. An effect with effect! One bag of container desiccant can absorb up to 400% (!) of its own weight. Depending on the version, a maximum of up to 1.2 litres per bag is therefore possible. So if you want to ensure a perfect climate in the container, you should use container desiccants and distribute the bags as evenly as possible. Once the desiccants have been applied, they show their unique effect for up to eight weeks.

The effect of the desiccant method is based on the fact that a microclimate that differs from the environment is created and maintained within a barrier layer. The air inside this envelope is dried to such an extent that corrosion can no longer take place;

The development of corrosion is influenced by the following environmental conditions, among others:Br>

• Relative humidity
• Condensation
• Hygroscopic stowage
• Harmful gases such as sulphur dioxide or ozone

The desiccant method protects against corrosion on metal parts or, more generally, against undesirable humidity inside packaging.
