The Bundesverband Holzpackmittel, Paletten, Exportverpackung (HPE) e.V. celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2019. It is a trade association with more than 420 mainly owner-managed companies from all sectors of the wood packaging industry, representing around 80% of the industry's turnover of around 2.3 billion euros. HPE members are suppliers of pallets, packaging materials, cable drums, crates and chip baskets made of wood, as well as service providers from the packaging, container stowage and logistics sectors. The extrapolated demand for wood in the industry - including small businesses with fewer than 20 employees - is around six million cubic meters.
