The company was founded in 1953 by Oswald Nowotny, who was the first Austrian to produce Styropor. The Austrotherm Group consists of companies in 11 countries with 19 production sites and, like Baumit (facades, plasters, screeds) and Murexin (construction chemicals), belongs to the Schmid-Industrie-Holding.
Shortly after the opening of the East, Austrotherm was one of the first companies to enter the Eastern European market. The pink XPS (extruded polystyrene, extruded foam) is especially important where extreme pressure and moisture stresses place particularly high demands on the insulation material.
The high-performance insulating material Austrotherm Resolution is a new rigid insulating foam, which insulates more than 40 % better than conventional insulating materials. It is therefore ideally suited for applications with limited space.
