A sieve is a technical device with which substances of different grain sizes are separated from each other. These can be present as solid mixtures or as a mixture of solids and liquids. The sieve itself is a grid or a perforated plate. The hole size and shape of the recesses determine which grain sizes pass through the sieve and which remain in the sieve. Systems that work with gravity do not require a permanent drive. The liquid can be pumped into a higher basin and from there passed through the sieve filter system. Various manufacturers offer a kit with instructions on how to build it yourself. Spare parts can be bought cheaply. You should read the building instructions or the building plan to find out which parameters the individual components have. When used in garden ponds, the algae must be removed regularly to prevent the sieves from clogging too quickly.applications One of the best known applications is probably the espresso machine. The coffee is held back by a stainless steel strainer when the hot water is pressed through the machine at high pressure. The strainer in the coffee machine simply holds back the filter leaf and the coffee. Anyone who has built a swimming pond himself knows exactly what is required of the pond filters. The experience can be used well for the installation of the koi pond or for irrigation. If the rainwater butt and the cistern are protected from contamination, the rainwater remains fresh for longer. Leaves and undefined plant remains promote decay and can quickly turn the reservoir into an unpleasant smelling nuisance. A simple self-construction from wire mesh is sufficient for the protection. In winter you don't just have to protect the Koi from frost. Accessories such as garden hoses, filter systems, rotors and pumps should be taken out of the pond into the warm, cleaned and dried. In hydraulics, screens are used as pre-filters. Diesel in motor vehicles is also cleaned by these pre-filters.
