Cylindrical roller bearings (standardized according to DIN 5412) are machine elements that belong to the group of rolling bearings. They are used to support and guide machine components that move relative to one another. Application areas Compared to other types of rolling bearings, such as the frequently used deep groove ball bearing, the radial load capacity of a cylindrical roller bearing of the same size is considerably greater. The reason for this is the more favourable, linear contact between cylindrical roller and roller track in this context compared to the point-shaped contact of the ball bearing. For this reason, cylindrical roller bearings are particularly suitable for bearings with high radial loads and as non-locating bearings. Typical fields of application include transmissions, electric motors, axle bearings for rail vehicles and bearings in rolling mills.
