Several protection goals are realized
Since 2000, Dr. Ermer GmbH has been designing smoke displacement systems using industry-proven technologies from renowned manufacturers. Prof. Dr. Horst A. Ermer, Managing Director of Dr. Ermer GmbH, names three protection goals that are achieved with a smoke displacement system: "First and foremost, of course, is the rescue - ideally self-rescue - of people. Secondly, the system helps the fire department because it keeps the firefighting routes free of smoke. And finally, property damage to the building is avoided, which would have to be repaired by expensive renovation work after smoke has spread unhindered. "
A significant advantage of smoke displacement systems is also that only minor intervention in the building fabric is required for older buildings. There is hardly a property that could not be retrofitted. Fail-safety is achieved by an optional emergency power supply for the fan unit. The overpressure and the air volume flow generated by the unit are sufficient to keep the smoke at the fire site, even if the doors between it and the escape route are open. And if, for whatever reason, smoke should nevertheless have penetrated the stairwell, it is immediately diluted by the permanent air flow and blown out via the downdraft.
